Food Lion Expands Home Grocery Delivery to Whole Footprint
Omnichannel retailer's service now available in 90%+ of its 10-state operating area
Food Lion has expanded its home delivery service in three states.
Food Lion has expanded home delivery to Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. Last week, the grocery retailer launched delivery service in seven other states. With this latest expansion, home delivery is now available across Food Lion’s entire footprint.
The Ahold Delhaize-owned omnichannel retailer now offers Food Lion to Go Pickup or Home Delivery in more than 90% of its 10-state operating area. It continues to expand this service across the towns and cities that it serves.
Food Lion Home Delivery, powered by Instacart, allows customers in the additional delivery ZIP codes listed below to use the Food Lion To Go website or the Food Lion To Go app to place orders. The grocer is waiving the delivery fee for a customer's first order of $35.
Additionally, by linking their personal Food Lion MVP savings loyalty card to their account, customers can use digital coupons and redeem their Shop & Earn MVP rewards program savings. Customers can also view their accumulated Shop & Earn rewards on their checkout screen and see which clipped digital coupons will be applied to their order.
“Food Lion To Go’s Home Delivery can be especially beneficial for our customers,” said Evan Harding, director of digital and e-commerce at Food Lion. “With home delivery, we make grocery shopping easy and convenient, allowing our customers to enjoy more time outdoors and with their families, enjoying picnics, barbecues and other summer activities.”

Meanwhile, Food Lion continues to be among Ahold Delhaize’s top U.S. brands, delivering 46 straight quarters of positive sales growth, according to the retail conglomerate's first-quarter results. Ahold Delhaize's online sales in the United States grew 4.7% in Q1 on a like-for-like basis, fueled by new customer growth, as well as strong retention of existing e-commerce customers.
Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion operates more than 1,100 stores throughout 10 southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, with 82,000-plus associates. Its parent company, Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of Zaandam, Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize, is No. 10 on The PG 100, Progressive Grocer’s 2023 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.
